What's this wiki for?
This wiki is used for a number of things.
One purpose is to record NamedPatterns of CivilSociety praxis.
In other words, as members of civil society, we consider that useful knowledge is derived from our experiences of getting things to work, and that others can benefit from our experience by the "rules of thumb" we create, in the first instance, for ourselves.
This website is a nice place for recording elements of such practice, craft, or 'technics'. Technics are recorded in written form as an open series of NamedPatterns, each of which describe a context of forces and their advised resolution (see IntroducingPatterns).
Another purpose is to openly support a common vocabulary of WikiWords within CivilSociety websites, for example websites produced by the AppropriateWebsiteFactory.
Another purpose is to associate and describe people and organisations (see CategoryOrganisation, CategoryPerson).
Another purpose is to provide a resource for the production of AppropriateSoftware (see AppropriateSoftwareLayers).
By now, there may be others purposes...
