Professional Services

These services allow ScanBooker users to benefit from the skills and experience of the team who created and maintain ScanBooker. These services can be shaped to particular needs. Charges for professional services are described below.

Requirements Analysis

Requirements analysis connects with working processes and helps any subsequent developments to be directed towards the greatest benefit.

ScanBooker was initially developed after a substantial analysis of the work of running the MRI scanner at the Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit of the UK's Medical Research Council. All of the major aspects of the work were identified, with the more critical concerns considered in most detail and addressed first by development.

We continue to resolve the differences between the work of medical imaging and the current features of ScanBooker. By working with different groups in progressive iterations we close any gap between current features and actual needs.

Scan Club works to co-ordinate investments in common concerns. For example, outstanding areas for further common analysis and development include:

Software Development

Following the Agile approach, ScanBooker is developed incrementally, with new releases of working software delivered on a regular basis for evaluation and feedback.

Software development addresses the requirements of supporting the work. Requirements are ordered by how relatively valuable and obtainable they are. Our test and domain driven approach to design leads to working code that can continue to be developed over time and which makes good sense within the supported work.

With ScanBooker we have tended to work in integer multiples of two-weeks, each of which has been enough time to complete one major feature or a handful or minor ones.

Application Service Provision

We can help ScanBooker users with their ScanBooker application service provision. We have created a system called provide to support deploying ScanBooker, which you are free to use. See the Download page for installation information.

On request we can also prepare custom virtual machine files for immediate "out of the box" usage.

If you don't wish to run ScanBooker yourself, we can provide it as a fully managed and supported online application service.

Support

When requested, we offer responsive support contracts. Support contracts guarantee availability of analysis, development, and application service provision services. Please refer to the Scan Club for details.

Service Charges

Fees for professional services are charged according to agreed time. Fee rates for professional services are available on request. Please note that fees are negotiable.

Members implementing ScanBooker at their site engage the club services to typically make use of the club's professional in the following way. Typical number of chargeable days is indicated in italics.

System Demonstration

0-1 days The first thing we can do is establish a dedicated trial application service using the current ScanBooker software.

Requirements Analysis

0-5 days

After the system has been trialed, we can identify and explore the important gaps between the working process of the member and the capabilities of ScanBooker.

Software Development

0-20 days

After connecting with the working process of the member, we can address any unsupported aspects with more Agile development of ScanBooker.

Application Service Provision

0-1 days

Once the member considers that ScanBooker will make an adequate support, we can help provide the software as a service in one of several different ways.

Responsive Support

0-10 days per year

A support service level can be agreed, within which further process analysis, software development, or application service support is available at short notice.

User Community

0 days

We can encourage general discussion about members' imaging process and options for support.
